I'm done with my yo-yo.

I didn't start working out until college -- and boy, was I spoiled with our high-tech, fully-equipped athletic center. Since college, I've done all sorts of physical activity from weight lifting to soccer to badminton to cardio equipment to Zumba classes. I didn't see the crazy fast results until I did P90X with my roommate a few years back. I was in the best shape of my life and I would hope so! Working out 6-7 days a week for 3 months straight (no matter where I was) was not easy. Plus, the nutrition plan made sure I got the results that Tony (creator of P90X) promised.
So, what happened within 6 months of slowing down to 1-2x/week of physical activity? I started getting distracted and ate whatever I wanted. Then, I went on Tim Ferris' Slow-Carb diet with my own fitness plan and it helped A LOT. This leads to where I am today. I just got married and don't want to pack on the after-wedding-15.
I've been going through these diet/fitness plan cycles for the past 10 years and I want to stop thinking that it's the only way to live. Gaining. Losing. Gaining. Losing. It's a vicious cycle of yo-yoing and might I add, an expensive one for your wardrobe if you're the type to donate clothes. I'm ready to make an end to this yo-yo and think about fitness as a life-long commitment and push it into overdrive if I want to achieve something in a short amount of time. This will require a mental shift in the way I think about fitness overall. I'm ready to work towards it!
2013 Big Picture Goals
  • Reach 8% body fat
  • Complete a Sprint triathlon in 1 hr, 25 mins or LESS
  • Achieve a USATT rating of 2000 (http://tinyurl.com/a98b7t9)
  • Complete my physical trainer (PT) course
Sub-goals (my fitness plan)
  • Physical activity at least 4x per week
  • Register for a triathlon for the summer/fall timeframe
  • Practice/play table tennis at least 2x per week
  • Compete in table tennis tournaments in the area
  • Set aside time each week to study for the PT exam
Positive Fitness Habit Change
  • Plan my workouts BEFORE going to the gym
