Hypochondriac | Skillshare Projects

I've actually wanted to create a series of short stories based on my hypochondria. It's strangely the driving force that's brought me to live abroad (outside of the US, I can finally afford to be a hypochondriac).

1. Luke MIA

I've been a hypochondriac since I can remember. When I was little, I heard a story about a girl with leukemia. One day while I was taking a bath, I noticed that my hair was falling out. My thoughts immediately went back to the girl who lost her hair (without understanding that loss of hair was related to chemotherapy). My sister squashed the idea that I had leukemia, but convinced me that I had mange. So for the rest of the day, I tried to remedy my hair loss afraid my mom would find out.

2.  The Cleanse

After a trip to the Philippines, I was ill for about a month. I lost about 15 pounds and I was seemingly better. I forgot about being sick until a year later when a friend's mother warned me that I should do a parasite cleanse after living in Asia. When I googled parasite symptoms, I was shocked. You never want to actually do this. The pictures are enough to turn anyone into the biggest germaphobe. I took her advice and cleansed for two weeks. A period that caused much fear and anxiety over using the toilet.
