Hype About Hydrangeas

Hype About Hydrangeas - student project

Peggy first of all thank you for this class! I've been really busy lately and it's been tougher than I'd like to make time to sit down and draw, so this class was a great motivator to stop worrying about working on the Right Things and just spend some time making pretty things.

I used the opportunity to spend some time doing little flower studies of my own to start:

And then tried out my first wreath (which I really enjoyed):

Once I was feeling warmed up I decided to go all out on a full piece of paper and make a wreath with as many different plants and flowers as I could think to jam in there:

"Make like Nike" (i.e. Just Do It) has been a guiding principle for me this year because I have a tendency to get caught up in details and overworking my art and fretting about what projects to start or not start. This is a reminder to stop overthinking or planning and just get to work.

I don't have any immediate plans to put something like this on a notebook or anything, but if I do get around to it I will definitely upload it here.
