Houston - Big city with a small town vibe

Why am I making this map? For fun? A client? a gift? To showcase my favorite places? Etc.

For fun, and to get more design experience. I want to showcase the hidden gems in Houston, around and near my neighborhood (Montrose, the heights, museum district, etc)

Why am I the expert to create this map?

I've lived in Houston all my life, but recently moved closer into town, and I find amazing new places every day that make this city exciting and warm hearted.

Who is my target audience?

Of course, people from Houston, but more for the people that want nothing to do with Houston. They view the city with distorted opinions about what it's like and have never been here and experienced what this city has to offer in terms of culture, art, and the people.

What level of detail do I need to include? (Names, addresses, contact info, street names, website, hours, descriptions, color coding etc.).

I would like to add the names of the major streets that have a lot going on. Maybe some color coding and simple illustrations of really cool things around town that can pop from the map. I tend to make things TOO detailed, so I'd like to make it as simple as I can..

Do I want my final project to be printed or digital? How is it going to be used/ held? What other constraints do I need to keep in mind moving forward? (Note: type can be smaller on printed maps than when viewed on web).

I'd like to make it mainly for digital, but it would be nice if it could be read on a postcard.

“Dear classmates, I need your help/expertise/ guidance on how to.....”

Keep things simple!
