Home sweet home

Home sweet home - student project

I enjoyed making this, as it is in a different style from what I usually do. For me it is also a lot about playing with and choosing (non-naturalistic) colours. In the end mine were not that far from real life, as I wanted to keep it looking like Northern Europe. But it was nice to see playful examples of how it can be done.

The end product ended up a bit over-worked. I had too many similar greens, and probably should have chosen more colours for the greenery, and planned the texture of each part more beforehand. At some point, perhaps especially when you draw on top of the painted layer, it starts to look really busy, and if you don't really know what you want to do, it starts looking a bit stiff (but that's the case with overworking anything, I guess). If I were to do it again I would probably leave out the compressed road in the bottom right hand corner, and just paint the house and lots of trees.
