Home Surveillance System

The goal of this project is to interface the Raspberry Pi with a USB webcam and motion sensor to record activity near the front door of my home.  I would like to track either snapshots at a defined interval or video of the activity and store it so it can be accessed remotely.  An option to either login directly to the Pi using VNC or other remote desktop application or a web server to host the snapshot/video activity would also be nice.  Disk space is limited on the Pi currently so a way to store the snapshot/video to a NAS server on the network or cloud file storage service would be helpful as well.

Peripheral Devices:

Logitech C270 HD Webcam - http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-webcam-c270

Adafruit PIR (motion) sensor - https://www.adafruit.com/products/189

Software (possible):

fswebcam - Tiny and flexible webcam program

webcamstudio - Creates virtual webcam to broadcast over the internet.

nginx-light - nginx web/proxy server (basic version)

vnc4server - Virtual network computing server software

nomachine - Fast and secure remote access system
