Holosivski - student project

I've lived in Kiev, Ukraine for over 2 years now and have been running, biking, sleding, walking, barbequing, and explore the park near by home. There's a trove of treasures through out from water dunking holes, sauna, post-soviet astononarimus, an outdoor museum, ice fishing, sledding, and trails. It's my major escape from the city and the daily routine. Holosivski is a massive park with endless routes, but no easy access to a map. For this project I want to create a map of the park to share with other ex-pats in Kiev to enjoy the park as much as I do.

There's a few other maps cooking as potential projects. \\\ jacobort.tumblr.com

  • Why am I making this map? For fun? A client? A gift? To showcase my favorite places? Etc.

I want to start a mini tourist company in Kiev that takes expats on bicycles, run, or skiis through the park.

  • Why am I the expert to create this map?

I live 500m from the park and run through it 2-3 times a week.

  • Who is my target audience?

Expats living in Kiev.

  • Do I want my final project to be printed or digital? How is going to be used/held? What other constraints do I need to keep in mind moving forward? (Note type can be smaller on printed maps than when viewed on web)

Printed to view while out on the trails. Maybe used for display on a website.

  • What level of detail do I need to include? (Names, addresses, contact info, street names, website, hours, descriptions, color coding, etc.)

There should be kilometers of distance within the trails. Large landmarks such as churches, geographical features.

  • Dear class, I need your help/expertise/guidance on how to.....

Make this understandable and entertaining for anyone to view.

Here's a few maps I've drawn recently ...
