I started with a picture that I took out of my window.
I replaced the house by hills, and stylized the park and pond. First sketch and color rough
the fence and the bushes kept bothering me so I skipped them. The tree looked too…not Dutch to me, so I replaced it with leaves to create a frame.
I played with the colors, until I was satisfied and it did not look like a hot day in Africa anymore, but an early morning sun in Europe. At least that was what I was aiming for. Maybe it’s not enough, yet.
Every time I got stuck, I reread my notes from the class and then I got reminders on how to go on. The grey layer helped me to choose the right values, and flipping the drawing helped to discover mistakes.
