Hello Aloha Goodbye

Thank you Andrea! This was a great class and it taught me very well. This is my first time doing brush lettering (I'm 12), and I used the Prismacolor brush pen. I loved it, and it was easy for me to control even though I'm a lefty :) Please critique and give me any suggestions!

First, I practiced the strokes.

Then I moved onto alphabets. I tried out 2 sans-serif alphabets and 2 script alphabets.

From that, I experimented with different words in a few styles.

I saw two phrases that I liked: "safe to say" and "hello aloha goodbye."

I do like how safe to say looks, but I had an idea for hello aloha goodbye, so I went with it. First I did some rough sketches of layouts, fonts, and colors.

I wanted aloha to be the focus, so I put it in a script and in a different color. I started off by putting hello and goodbye in the same font, but goodbye looked to long in contrast to hello, so I put it in a sans-serif font. I liked the tropical theme, so I added some flowers on the edge. With those ideas, I sketched it out.

Finally, I inked it with my Prismacolor pens.

Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks Andrea for this great class!
