I loved the exercises to warm up for this project.

Here are my circle characters.

After warm up I started pondering what noun I wanted to describe and "animate."

Using the nouns given as prompts I first liked an octopus or maybe a mushroom, then a box occurred to me. For an action I suddenly knew that I wanted it to juggle.

I trashed the mushroom idea and here are the roughs for octopus and box.

At this point I knew if a box could juggle it would need arms. I opted for hair on the octopus.

Here are the refined octopus and box.

I changed the arms to tentacles but leaned more toward the octopus. After running the two critters past a few friends, I decided to develop Harriett the Hairy Octopus. Hopefully I'll get her inked and colored in the next few days.

Here's Harriett the Hairy Octopus (who juggles). I created her with ink and watercolor pencils. I love the pencils. When the wet brush touches them, they spring to life. At her feet(?) are some starfish that she juggles for her finale. They get too dizzy if she juggles them all the time.
