Hand-Lettering II: You Lucky Dragon (Color)

1. STARTING POINT

For this project, I'll start with a piece I did during Mary Kate's workshop "Illustrating with Lettering" (for process, see here):

2. COLOR INSPIRATION

For color I had three different things in mind, that tie in with the concepts behind the lettered piece:

1. Universe and zodiac inspired, representing the dragon star sign from Chinese astrology

3. Dark background with pops of (neon or rainbow) color, representing the energetic and luck-bringing dragon from Chinese and Japanese myths

3. VECTORIZING & COLOR SKETCHES

For vectorizing and color I use Serif DrawPlus X8 instead of Illustrator.
