HTML & CSS Class

Iteration 1 (November 5th, 2012)

My first HTML & CSS class was on October 24th.

2nd HTML & CSS Class

Date: December 4th

Time: 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Location: RallyPad, 144 2nd Street, SF, Lower Level

Goal: make it better!

Sponsor: CodeSchool

  • paying for catering
  • providing 2 day free trial "hall passes" for complete access to their classes. A good direction to go after doing the Intro to HTML & CSS SkillShare class.
  • providing CodeSchool t-shirts. Randomly giveaway (name out of hat) or giveaway as prize?

What's for Dinner?

Catering from Sunrise Deli. Falafel, hummus, tabouli, lamb and chicken shawerma, lamb and chicken kebabs, pita, olives, tzaziki.

  • Should I get more sponsors?
  • What are some ways I can end class with a bang?

Previous class discoveries:

- teach CSS box model and positioning by drawing on whiteboard. Have class draw their div boxes on paper. Then walk them through coding the layout and positioning with CSS. Was having trouble communicating this and the paper and drawing seemed to help a lot.

- most students didn't have a project that they needed help with. Only a couple had questions on their personal projects. Might be a good idea to start a discussion ahead of time encouraging students to come up with a project that they can ask for advice or help on at the end of class.
