I started out by sketching my drawing on paper. I have used my own sketching technics and the ones used in the class. It liked the approach in the class, but I'm not confident in Photoshop just yet. So when I had my basic shapes down, I went in and drew a rough sketch on a new piece of paper, which I scanned and put into Illustrator.
Then I traced the lines with the pen tool and also used the shape tool to make the linework. On a new piece of paper I then made a sketch with a blue fineliner. After that I used a brush pen to make the shadows on my drawing. Then scan again and into Illustrator.
Then I could follow along the instructions in the class, by drawing the shadows with a fine line, using the live draw and color in the drawing. I had never used live draw before, and that tool has been an eyeopener for me! WOW! I set up a small color palet before I started coloring in the shapes, to make it easyer.
This has been such a fun class and I can't wait to learn more about Illustrator.
