Graceful Ginko

I've always loved ginko trees. The leaves have a unique yet simple shape that I wanted to experiment with. My initial inspiration was a ginko tree that I passed everyday on the way to and from work. I'd taken a picture of a leaf that I picked up from that tree, and used it as my first leaf model.

I pulled some of the colors from that image, but wanted some contrast to stand up to the vibrant greens, so also pulled colors from two rose photos I'd taken.

I'm excellent at stick figures, but that's about it, so don't judge my sketches too harshly ;)

From there I worked to digitize the images.  Here are my black & white versions. I experimented with more detailed versions, but decided that I wanted to experiment with the bold graphic look of more solid leaves.

And finally, my colored pattern.

And here are some of the other color versions that I came up with.
