Go With the Ria Flow

My name is Susanne and I want to use this month to feel the freedom of having one 'must' and that's ink.  I love Ria's approach. Really; it's like heaven-send to me. Such a relief to think this way about art. Thanx for that Ria!!  (Ink turned into watercolour)

Day 3: MUSIC

I thought I'd use only ink and try a caracter. I didn't have a lot of time and maybe the result is not exactly what I wanted but I'm happy with some effects. I would like to research further. I made a few. Here's two:

Day 4: LIGHT

Is there a more beautiful theme?! I dropped the ink entirely... Even if I'm from the country of Rembrandt and I could have honoured him with a black/white line drawing (first thought) ... but. I just thought of the beauty of light and all the colours it contains. To me 'light' is also the spiritual light and how we all reflect part(s) of that. I wanted to paint 'light' and turn it into form. It turned out to be a woman. And I thought; that's perfect. Because women are beautiful in all their colours <3

Day 5: SHADOW

I went to a fado concert and it was about the sea. Four women were playing strings and one grand lady - Maria de Fatima - was singing fado. It was beautiful. I was watching one woman who was playing violin and the way the light made her face partially red and her very dark hair. I decided to use this image for 'shadow' and while I was working I thought; what if she is a woman who is a sea-creature and nobody knows.

It's not finished ... so far so good.

Day 6: COMFORT

At his concert I was out of my social comfort-zone. I realized later that it would be great if I could allways stay in touch with the feeling of comfort within. I made this small picture. Not to my satifaction yet. I'll probably work on it more. It's wonderful though to just dó and not overthink. I love it <3 <3

Day 7: COMPOSITION

I got stuck. To escape it I made shapes, coloured them, cut them out and made a composition. Didn't really like it. Played with it in photoshop. Still don't really like them. But ... oh well. Enough for today.

Day 8: MEMORIE

The first time I met a teacher of mine, he was teaching in the dunes. The sea right behind us. He was talking about the stars and about people who practiced with placing their conciousness in different parts of their body, like foot-soles. I was sitting down and literaly looked up to him and he was talking about things I  never heard of. Behind him a beautiful night sky. I took a course with him and discovered much about myself. I drew him (I'm not good with drawing men - next project perhaps) as a bit of a mythological caracter. I'm looking for a rght kind of naive. Like the sky. It's messy and doesn't look like a night sky but I think everybody gets it and I like the tones of blue. The face however was just not good so I whiped it out. Have to look tomorrow when I have daylight. I love to work this way: so direct. Next month I think I'll draw from reality (I don't know the english frase for that) every day. Because I don't know how to draw stars or fire ... (or men ;)

Day 10: TIME

I made this as a card for my mom's birthday (the 12th). Alice in Wonderland - white rabbit - with a year clock. I made something in the looking glass but I removed it in photoshop because I réally didn't like it. Tomorrow I'll cut it out and paste a fresh piece of paper. (Sometimes photoshop is more practical than working on paper ;)

18 PAST   I used to make pencil drawings. So I took one of my favourites and copied it with pen and watercolour. Just to see if the old would bring something to the new. ... I don't know if it did. I guess I tried to catch the same atmosphere so it's not that different.

22 FEAR  I think fear has a lot to do with perception. I remembered a book and in the end the main caracter wasn't afraid anymore of the things that used to scare her. The thing she feared was like a mean dog at first and in the end it was as if it lost it's teeth. So I thought of teeth... And black skies can turn easily (so can blue ones). It's perception.
