Get Dorky: Start using Google Analytics on your website

Building a website and creating content may be the toughest pillars to your online success.  But, are you examing how users are getting to your site, what they are doing when they get there, and what pages cause them to leave?

Part of the key to sustaining a successful web presence over time is based upon analyzing your site's trends and user behaviors and optimizing accordingly.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's get dorky.

Are you ready to make the first leap into web data and understand details about your site like:

  • How many people are visiting your site daily?
  • Demographic information about your site visitors.
  • What traffic sources are they coming from?
  • Which pages do the visit most often?
  • When and where are they leaving your site?

This 1-week course will include two 45-minute sessions that will get your site up and running with Google Analytics, and arm you with enough information to analyze dimensions at a beginner level and make some informed decisions on how your website is performing.

By the end of the class, you will be able to accomplish the following:

  • Setup Google Analytics on your website
  • Become familiar with the Google Analytics dashboard
  • Understand how to find and manipulate some of the most common dimensions and features, including audience, traffic sources, and content

And no class would be complete without a final project!  After both scheduled sessions are completed, all students will have some assigned "Google Analytics" tasks to submit.  This includes integrating Google Analytics to your website (or blog), and submitting proof of navigation to certain data sets I will request.

So come join in on the Google Analytics fun.  One of the few places where it's cool, to get dorky.
