Gesture Practice

Gesture Practice - student project

Great class! It really helped me loosen up my drawings.

I started out with four drawings on a page, 2 minutes each. I used www.line-of-action.com. As you can see, I didn't get very far:

Then I went back and developed them with darker pencil:

Then I went back over them with ink pen, and erased the pencil sketches underneath:

THEN I realized that I actually really missed the gesture drawings underneath them, and I think they lost something important when I erased the underlying structure. So I went back and did more 2-minute poses.

I was really happy that the more I practiced, the faster I became. Here they are developed with a rollerball pen. It took...too long. But I like the results. I particularly like that I just happened to get the same model in every single middle-column drawing, and she looks like she's standing on her own head and holding on to her own toes.

Thank you, Patricia!
