I'm fond of ravens' intense stares and lethal-looking beaks. This project was challenging because much of a bird's shape in art is established in its profile. A front-facing bird head is unimpressive, so by including wings and tail feathers, I had more opportunity to showcase its stature through geometric shapes. In Norse mythology, the ravens are Odin's animals, so I drew upon Viking designs for added texture. My colors were chosen to capture the shifting iridescence of black feathers.
