Fundamentals DSLR Portrait

here is a photo i tried to do involving a tripod and a broken mirror.

i shot it in manual mode with a high f/stop to keep everything from the face to the cracks of the mirror as focused as possible.  I also shot with a longer exposure time to allow more light to come in and a high iso because the lighting i had available in the room i was shooting in was very poor.  I shot this is RAW because i knew i was going to edit it and play with some things like the color to play with the overall mood of the photo.  I achieved the look i was going after, which was trying to play with some different styles of a portrait.   Personally i enjoy shooting in manual because it lets me play with certain aspects but I'm also not afraid to hop into automatic mode to check against what settings are going to give me a better shot.
