The pictures for this class were so pretty! I loved trying to recreate them.

I started in my latest scrap paper sketchbook and most recently have tried with white gel pen on black paper. The paints are all gouache. I haven't yet tried scanning and manipulating on the computer.

I didn't have the materials for the authentic Russian berry painter, so I tried a scrubby brush (the splattery berries) and the end of a very fat brush (the more rounded berries).

I love how bold the images are - especially the flower - but I'm still working on getting the brushwork exactly how I want it for the line weights :D

My bird was looking very coy so I added in another character. I wish I had a thicker gel pen so that I could have put heavier lines around the body and wings.
