There were so many possibilities for a zine on food! I sorted through them and decided to go with a step-by-step for my great-grandmother's white fruitcake recipe. My cousin and I are the only ones who still make it but it was very popular in my hometown when my grandmother was growing up.
It is a white fruitcake - made with egg whites and shortening rather than whole eggs and butter - and is delicious with or without the fruit in it. As candied fruit is usually in stores only during the holiday season, I make it between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My art may leave something to be desired but the cake recipe is all there.

Because my zine was for a Christmas recipe I used green for the cover and red tatting thread for the stitching.
