Flower of Life & Other Awesomeness

Hi! My name is Sara and I am an aspiring artist living in Vancouver, BC Canada. I have always loved art and have messed around with it on and off my whole life. Recently, I decided I wanted to play around with watercolors. I found Ana on YouTube and started following her on Instagram as I knew she was planning an online class. I am so happy it's here! I am excited to share my work and see other people's awesome creations :D

I thought I would upload my practice sheet as I really enjoyed seeing everyone else's. Transparencies took a little while to get the hang of, but it was such a great way to get to know my paints!

The pulse and precision exercises were my favorite! I just got into a zone. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so it was good to just let go and remind myself I am learning! I also learnt alot about hand placement as my pinky smudged my paints in the circle exercises. It was the very last thing I did on my sheet, so there was no turning back and starting over, which is what I would usually do!

For my monochrome activity I chose to draw a flower of life. I have always been obsessed with sacred geometry and thought it would be fun and challenging. It was! I really learnt a lot about brush control and technique. I also learnt that I must warm up my hand with precision exercises before diving right in on my art piece! I had a few very shaky lines and that was due to coming in cold. In the end, I was really happy with how much I learnt and how it turned out!

I am really excited for the next assignments. Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my project!
