First attempt at Bible journalling: James 1:22

I'm Joy. I've recently heard about Bible journalling and thought it sounds cool, but wasn't sure where to start. So I'm doing this class to try to find out more about it and give it a go.

The verse I've chosen is: James 1v22: Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Observations: The word is planted in us and can save us (v21) but to be effective, we need to do more than listen to it. We need to act on it. Listening and not acting is just deceiving ourselves. Acting leads to blessing (v25).

Applications: We can think we've 'done our bit' by listening to a sermon or reading the Bible, but it's not going to have any benefit, if we don't act on it. Our lives need to change. Some examples are given in v26-27: we need to care for the needy, watch what we say, avoid evil.
