Find Your Signature Design Style

Teacher: Maja Faber

Part of the 'Unlock Your Creative Identity' workshop, designed to find your own illustration/design style.

Who are you?

Describe yourself in 3 words:

cheerful, empathetic, go-getter

How do you like to work?

quick, detailed, jumping in

(Although I do like jumping in and working quickly, I also like to sketch a layout first and think ahead a bit, and to take my time. The problem with that, however, is that sometimes I don’t dare to go through when I am happy with the sketch – I am afraid of screwing it up.)

(I like working in detail, but therefore my perfectionist nature often gets in the way, because I like a ‘loose’ style.)

What are your favorite things to draw?

objects, household items, products (so basically: inanimate items with a fixed shape)

(goal: learn to better draw people/animals/plants)

graphic, bold, imaginative

Can you see any similarities between the different artists styles?

line drawings, screenprints, high contrast, use of handwriting/lettering, illustrative journaling/sketchbook style

Is there something that you don’t like about their styles?

some works are too imaginative/'fantastic' to my liking
