Fashion/Concept Shoot

This was a shoot that I had in my mind for about a year.  I photograph High School Seniors and families mostly, but I have learned from mentors that it is really important to creatively shoot for myself.  That was the idea behind this shoot, but it turned into something much bigger.

My daughter rides horses and I walk the cross country course while she is in her lessons.  I had a chance to be there during early morning and evening light.  I had a client in mind for the shoot and knew she was willing to arrive hair and makeup ready.  I had gone over the concept with the model and her mom (she's 12).

I received permission to shoot at the barn, I arranged for the clothing and accesories that  I had concepted and sketched,  communicated with the model's mom on anything they would need to bring and make up/hair so that she would be hair & makeup ready.

Since I had photographed Lauren previously during family sessions, I was familar with her look and how to direct her.  She was also signed with a local modeling agency at this time of this shoot.

After the shoot, the mom purchased the images for her modeling portfolio and took to the International Model & Talent Association in New York, where the images earned 2nd Place for Theaterical Headshot and 2nd Place for Fashion Print.  This has since led me to now be contributing fashion photographer for a local style magazine.    However, since I mostly photograph families and High School Seniors, I feel like I definately need to be on the learning curve of fashion and new lighting techniques.  It has certainly challenged me and I hope its a challenge that I can continue to build.
