I went with one of my favorite quirky movies, the highly quote-able, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Set out to try illustrating three icons and feeling somewhat insecure about the three I began, ended up with an ambitious six (and a hidden seventh which I still haven't gotten to but turns out I didn't need after all). The equally quirky soundtrack was helpful to keep me going :)
The sketches were rough and in pen (perhaps unforgivable...don't judge me!) but what a fun challenge from the beginning. Rules ended up including rounded, middle widened strokes, right-aligned light source, five colors, some extending shapes allowed, and limited background detail. I especially love how DKNG projects challenge my color instincts as I always want to play with the whole palette but a limited one is consistently more stunning and worth the hard work.
Take a look through from sketch to final six - hope you enjoy!
Thanks again for checking this out - feedback is always interesting and appreciated - a peek at some more of my (personal) work here: https://dribbble.com/katiearcara! Have a great day :) (And go watch this film if you haven't yet. Seriously.)
