updated daily , please check back for new updates

FREELANCE has been the name and soul of our Brand from Day 1.  Founded in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2009 by a husband and wife team, this Brand was the outcome of a life-changing decision to leave a comfortable and financially secure job, in exchange for the opportunity to pursue a deeply rooted childhood dream of making a living as an artist.  "Freelance" represents every person that understands the fruition of your dreams comes through hard work, dedication, consistency, perserverance and never losing sight of your goals.Our brand is not just some well put together philosophy , but a very Authentic lifestyle we live daily , turning a life long dream into a reality.At a young age I took out a portion of my life savings and with no previous experience in the field , just went for it- Like our  slogan says , we "Go for minds"

"GO FOR MINDS" is the slogan we've adopted to express several cornerstones of the Freelance culture, including:  1. Achieving any goal starts with the proper mindset.  2. Our design aesthetics are clean, progressive,intellectual and fashion-conscious.  3. This saying is also a play off of the slogan "Go for mines" (as in going for my own)...

In the early stages of our Brand, we heavily used the Handstyle Logo which was custom designed for us by our mentor and legendary Writer, East 3 (Rock Steady Crew, Zulu Nation).  As we've developed, we felt the need to create a logo that emcompassed a stronger and more widespread appeal.  Our Clean Logo was developed in part with advice and approval from our friend and noted graphic designer/ contributor, Jasper Wong (founder of POW WOW Hawaii).  We are currently in the works for an icon graphic to represent our Brand, but will be very careful in finalizing this, as everything we produce is thoughtfully crafted.

"FREELANCE is a streetwear Brand for the people, whose focus is on conscious creativity, connecting to the community and consistently delivering relevant and attainable product."

//  Artist Collaborations  //
        We strongly believe in supporting artists in their business endeavors by showcasing
        their work through a fashion medium. We enjoy working with artists whose passion
        and drive have garnered themselves a career in the arts and a dedicated following as
        well.  We also have provided artist workshops to allow other creative minds to
        connect and learn from some of the artists we have worked with.  Some of the artists
        on our roster include:

  • East 3 (Rock Steady Crew, Zulu Nation)
  • Friks84 - clientele includes: Mighty Healthy, Agenda Tradeshow, The Freshnes, etc.

//  Giving Back  //
        Since our 1st Year Anniversary, Freelance has been hosting an annual event called
        APEX, which was conceived as a way to give back to the community which has
        supported us from day 1.  APEX offers the spotlight to the dancers, bboys/bgirls,
        MCs, DJs, bike builders, custom car creators, performers and small businesses that
        support the street culture community. Starting in 2012, APEX collaborated with
        LOFT IN SPACE to host an even bigger event now known as TRILOGY, which still
        aims to support and grow our community.

//  Freelance Fam  //
        We believe in supporting up and coming talent who have the drive and potential to
        mutually grow and succeed together.  The "Freelance Fam" is our sponsored team of
        talent, which has included B-Boys, Singers, Emcees, MMA fighters, Models and more.

Our graphic tees are the staple of our Brand.  More recently, we have been branching out to produce full custom cut-and-sew apparel and headwear.

Starting off in 2009 with just a silkscreen press and a lot of heart, Freelance Clothing have already earned their stripes in the Aloha state. Now through PLNDR, they’d like to introduce themselves to all of you on the mainland. “We let our passion lead the way through a TON of learning experiences and losses until we found our niche,” say founders Duke & Kiki King. It just so happens that their place in the sun is at the heart of all street culture in Honolulu.  Actively involved in multiple facets of the scene, from graffiti and hip-hop to low-rider bikes and cars, even sponsoring MMA fighters, one thing is clear: this is not a brand looking to make a fast buck off the kids, but clearly a group of like-minded individuals who deeply care about the community they live in.
