Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

I decided to change my book from "A Light in the Attic" to "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. I feel like there are more visual opportunities for me to explore.

I haven't read this book in over a year so I decided to read it again to refresh my memory. I wrote down some key words for my brainstorm session and had a difficult time choosing a letter for this project. I'm thinking 'O' for Oskar (the main character) or 'F', the authors last name.  I would like to explore these sketches further but this is my first pass. I thought it might be interesting to use the letter 'O' which could represent Oskars necklace with the key around it.

Back to the drawing board. This is my latest sketch. I'm using the letter 'H' with a key. The bars in the letter represent the twin towers. I believe this sketch speaks for itself.

Using the sketch above, I came up with this for my final artwork. But, now I'm realizing the 'H' doesn't make sense to use other than the fact that it works well with the Twin Towers.

So...I tried it using an "L" but now there's only one Twin Tower.
