Expressing through portraits

Hi. My name is Andrei Topli. First of all I want to thank Sophia for the class. I have been using Instagram for a while but never took it serious untill about 1 year ago when I realize the potential it has, started following creative people, using it a tool for inspiration and figuring out a proper way to tell the story that I want with my feed. My focus in on portraits with ocassional lifestyle and shots of London, where I currently live.

My instagram account is @andreitopli

1. Markets and categories I want to tap into :

  • Portrait photography
  • Fashion photography
  • Street wear
  • Lookbooks
  • Lifestyle

2. Edit : Shots on my feed are mostly shot on my Fuji X100s and some on my Iphone 5C. Editing process is the same, I use VSCO filters, after I do some minor adjustments in Snapseed and lastly I use Afterlight to crop and frame the picture. Lately I have been ditching the square format in favor of big white frames around my images while keeping the original crop ratio.

3. Captions and Hashtags: Usually for captions I either add a quote or some words that describe a feeling that the image gives me or I just tag the model name and location. For hashtags I try to incorporate a lot of hashtags that I see people which I follow use or pages that feature work related to mine. I keep a list of hashtags in a note file on my phone which I constantly update and just copy-paste it in a comment after uploading the image. Sometimes I add a few distinctive ones (like #blackandwhite for monochrome pictures) but most of the times I use the ones in my list.
