--- UPDATES BELOW THE POST ---
Hi everybody! I'm Maria and I'm a graphic designer from the Netherlands. I've always wanted to learn more about hand lettering but I never took the time for it so this is the perfect oppertunity!
The qoute wasn't very hard for me, I'm a big Madonna fan so I do have a lot great songs to choose from!
step 1.) The phrase:
Express yourself don't repress yourself
step 2.) Inspiration and Brainstorming
step 3.) Moodboard
Next step: sketching! I'm really inspired and excited to draw some designs!

UPDATE 1
-------------------------
Today I did the lettering warm-up and it went so well I did them all. Just to try something. The results:
I think number 4 and 10/5 are the most relevant for the poster I want to make.
Up to the next step!

UPDATE 11-01-14
-------------------------
First I sketched some rough lay-outs and ideas about the lettering:
After the idea's started to pop up I made a some bigger sketches.
I found the ornamentation the most difficult so I redraw my first big sketch with some different illustrations.
I want the poster to have a positive, celebrated feel. The second last has a good readability and has the right mood but is a little dull. The latest sketch has a more diverse lettering but lacks somehow some completing illustrations/ornamentations.
Any tips are very welcome! :)

UPDATE 15-01-14
-------------------------
I've redrawn my latest sketch and it's getting better! Although I'm not quite satisfied with the ornamentation yet. Guess I better keep on sketching on the ornamentation!

UPDATE 23-01-14
-------------------------
I think I've got it! This is the sketch I want to continue with.

UPDATE 26-01-14
-------------------------
My refined sketch! I think I'm almost ready for inking. I'm doubting whether I add some illustration in the border or not, and I'm not completely sure if the ornamentation of the latest 'yourself' suits to the rest of the design.
EDIT: I've included some extra ornamentation, it looks a little completer now.

UPDATE 27-01-14
-------------------------
My final drawing! I'm ready for part 2!

UPDATE 01-02-14
-------------------------
While digitizing I noticed that some parts weren't working well so I've redraw these.
color experiments:
Final (at least for now ha!)
