Exploring abstract painting

Exploring abstract painting - student project

This class is amazing, well just like all of Marie classes.  They are easy and very hard at the same time.  At least that is how I feel, laying paint in an abstract way is really hard for me.  It looks very easy, but then when the white paper is right in front of you, trying to put paint down without a reference is hard.   It is a class worth revisiting to ingest all the little morsels of knowledge Marie provides.

My first painting is abstract without planning.  I like this one better than the planned one,  Maybe the colors. I don't know.  I did find that I have to work on so many things, but value is one of them.  I think for an abstract paint you need this.  I like how Marie uses so much water and very little color in her examples with just a touch here and there of very concentrated pigment.  That is nice.

This next abstract is planned and here are the color I used

This is my planned abstract painting,  I painted it in a vertical position but flipped it and I like it better this way.  I will be practicing more, but I must say abstract still does not make too much sense to me.

By the way, I loved the paintings in your bonus section, very organic. Thank you for an excellent class.
