Experiments - student project

Even though I look totally different than my left hand sketches, it was somewhat liberating to let go of details and just quickly put together a face, that looked like a face, without getting stuck on the eyes shape or anything like that:

I feel like the fact that I’m drawing from bed plays a part in the fact that I still don’t look like neither of my drawings, but I am not mad at that, I actually like that it didn’t end up like many other portraits that I start and then get too frustrated to finish. So yeah, not accurate, but artistic and good looking nonetheless:

I really enjoyed drawing the hand without looking, I think I would have done a much worse job at it if I was looking, instead, I enjoyed the process and quite enjoyed the result as well!

I found that starting with the face features and ending with the face outline & hair was the way to go for me. I actually really like the last portrait (bottom right), it captures SOME of the features correctly, and I think that overall is quite expressive. I couldn’t add beard without making a big mess though
