I chose this Air France poster from 1959, S.A. Courbet. The shapes are pretty straight forward with a lot of subtle texture, which I need to learn. I like the warm and sunny color palette that is perfect for Spain. Let's see how it goes!
Here is my form building progress so far:
I'm really enjoying this process even though it's taking me a bit of time...
FORM UPDATE TWO:
Getting a lot more form building done. Need to finish the rest of the organic shapes and detail.
Then it's on to textures and painting shadows with vector brushes...I hope...
MAY 22, 2013:
I am nearly finished but still have some detail left, finish boats and add cypress tree and the woman...and whatever else I forgot!
Worked on adding gradients, brought in a bitmap texture like Brad showed us, added lots of effects like grain, feathering, etc in hopes of giving it a worn, painted feeling.
Here's a comparison at this point on May 22.
I like being able to see the projects side by side at different stages so I'm not always scrolling up to the original to see the progress.
May 24, 2013: FINAL
This is my finished project. I could go on but I have to stop myself. I should fix the type and a few other things. This is been so much fun to learn all of this.
Final comparison on May 24:
For some reason, I could not get the cypress tree dark enough when I added the effects to it, but I will have to keep trying to figure that out! Really happy how it turned out all in all. Thanks for this class, Brad and Skillshare :)
