English Cream Tea Made Simple - Scones are Easy

Have you watched any of the Bake Off shows and thought to yourself, "I'd like to do that, but I can't bake!"

I'm Lea Harris and was on the first series of the Bake Off. I love baking! There is something amazing about taking flour, sugar, and butter and transforming them into something delicious to eat by adding a liquid then popping the finished mix into the oven. Et voila! A cake, a batch of shortbread or, in this case, the perfect scone for an English Cream Tea!

This is my first class and I'm excited at the prospect of having you joining me in the kitchen to create something very simple, but looks like you spent hours over a hot stove.

No one is culinary challenged, it's lack of experience that is holding you back. Maybe you want to impress your girlfriend/boyfriend or show your in-laws that you can bake. Are you a newly single parent with limited time with your kids and want to do something special with them? Perhaps you fancy showing off your new skills to friends by having them over for tea.

I will walk you through each stage including what equipment you need, what is the best flour to use and why, how to serve your cream tea and troubleshooting any problems that occur.

Learn how to make plain and fruit scones to slather in jam and cream; savoury ones to have with soup or smoked salmon. You'll also learn how to adapt the recipes to make your own signature scones!
