Emma Louisa

EmmaLouisa.com is a lifestyle blog for young women wanting advice on how to make things, products they may be interested in, books to read and general lifestyle. The general age range is likely 16 to 30

The vision for EmmaLouisa.com is to become a site that a community of readers check into, read the posts and interact with both myself and other readers in the comments. I would also like to work with some more brands and collaborate on content to show my readers new businesses and their products.

I think that most people will find traditional magazine type content online, and I would like my site to be one of young women’s go to sources of great content.

Currently, there is no revenue through the site. Over the next few years, it would be beneficial for growth to have a small revenue through brand alignment and sponsorship. Another option may be to create physical product to sell in an online store, with the blog benefitting that experience.

Beautiful lifestyle content for the everyday young women.

Balance of aspirational and achievable

Pride and Passion

EmmaLouisa.com is a free online resource for young women. It is aimed at those with a lifestyle with a small to moderate disposable income who are on the lookout for a few things they may want to purchase. They want reviews of products before they buy them and can be thrifty, but they also want to see what the market has to offer, and what other people are interested in. They can’t afford to buy a few to trial, or designer product without having to save for months.

EmmaLouisa.com is a form of entertainment. It is a mix of inspirational content, product reviews and recommendations, DIY and recipe ideas and how-tos.

Voice and Tone

Content should be interesting and a little educational. The tone should be fun, lighthearted and witty. Educational sorts of posts including DIY and recipe how-tos and reviews should also show a little creativity mixed with a little bit of knowledge, like a friend telling you about the things they love. Posts about products should be balanced, showing some positive and some negative aspects. Try to show products you would recommend, but if an item has been hauled and is negative, mention it at some point when possible.

Look and Feel

  • Images are light and bright
  • Separate text between images if there are multiple photos to share
  • Sign off all posts with a question to steer the comments, then a signature, then a disclaimer if necessary
  • Sidebar to show all social media and draw the reader into other channels of content
  • Images of a single product should include props to give the image depth and more intrigue
  • Use white space in a positive way to allow for gaps, without having an emptiness
  • Include feminine aspects, without being overwhelmingly girly
