Embracing the moment

OMG. Love TODOIST. I use both a Mac and a PC (and yes, I love my Windows phone and iPad equally). This is perfect for someone like me who uses about 5 different devices on three different platforms - SCORE!

In other news, I spent the day tackling my physical inbox which was full of papers from 2013 freelance projects, my new full-time gig, old credit card bills and health information.

I also cleaned out two email inboxes. The remaining mail will be part of my uber todoist to-do list.

40-50 items -- I bet I'll have over 200 before I'm done.

Earlier this week, I learned that my coworker is a GTD ninja. We totally nerded out -- and then he went down the GTD rabbit hole. I need to get through this class so I can keep up with him - Ha!

Lately, I've been thinking of this quote by Zora Neale Hurston: "There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside you." Yeah, there's a couple whoppers ready to come out. Just not sure which media to use or what to focus on. Basically, I would like to get to a place where I can get a handle on everyday little tasks so I can focus on bigger, more fun goals - and find that story : )

I took the diagnostic quiz. Mostly 1's and 2's. I found that to be very encouraging. I get things done, just not at the pace I expect. Prioritization seems to be a bit of a problem.

_______________ INTRO ______________

I'm a super deluxe designer who just swapped my freelance life for a full-time gig.

Design is one of the three loves of my life. The other two? My husband and baby girl.

During the long Minnesota winters, I play on upto four broomball teams. In the spring, I trade my broom and sponge shoes for a pitchfork and pair of gardening gloves.

Before going freelance, I was a web designer and blogger at the Minneapolis Star Tribune. My other exciting careers? Documentary photographer, fine art printer, barista, and sweater model.

Oh, yeah... I also just beat cancer. Since my diagnosis, I've been looking for ways to make something good out of something bad. My samples of my blood, saliva, and cancer tumor have been sent all over the world.

I am hoping that this class will give me better tools to balance work/husband/toddler/creative life and help me find the time to illustrate a book for my dautghter "Evelyn's Alphabet." I want to turn our 50's ranch house into a Mid-Century masterpiece with a edible yard.
