Embrace Your Art Challenge

I've recently found myself unemployed (again) and while it's a scary situation when you don't know when you're going to start getting regular pay again, when you're unemployment is going to begin and how you're going to live off of unemployment, there's no sense in worrying and stressing out about it.  So between enjoying a little time off, looking for a new job and going to interviews (and generally figuring out what I'm going to do with my life) I want to embrace my art.

The limitation I chose for myself for this project was "Drains".  Honestly, I was taking a shower and it was there ... the shower drain.  I thought, well drains can be scary (Pennywise the clown from It) but drains can also be cool (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!) and drains can also be emotional (having a bad job can drain your soul).  So, I don't know, it seemed like a good idea at the time.  To come up with 29 different ways to embody a "Drain" in art.

Day 1 - Root.

I started with the root of all evil, the root of the drain, the root of fear of drains for some people.  If anyone has seen the Stephen King made for TV movie of IT, you might remember the shower scene when Pennywise expanded the shower drain and scared everyone watching.  So I drew a simple drain in some tile with two gloved hands coming out getting ready to rip open the drain and show you the root of your own fear...

I apologize if it is sideways... the image I uploaded is correct but for some reason when it shows up in here it shows up sideways and there doesn't seem to be a way to correct the rotation - when I upload it sideways it still shows up sideways... I can't win :(

Day 2 - Place

Well for some reason all of my photos upload sideways.  Boo to that.  Anyway, today I started to second guess my "Drains" limitation until I remembered the original idea.  I just wanted to draw pictures in a drain, because I don't know, I thought it would be interesting.  So today, my favorite place was getting lost in a story - movies, books, even music.  I'm a big fan of the story and ever since I was a kid that's where I find myself most at ease, most happy - Lost in a story.  So here are some books and movies going down the drain to oblivion!.
