Elizabeth Roth - student project

I really enjoyed this class and pattern, but I have to admit that I found it to be quite a challenge. I don't think I've found my layered pattern legs yet, but I'm happy with this pattern as a good start. 

Below is my sketch sheet - inspired by my backyard and my somewhat desperate longing for spring. I didn't end up using all of these elements.

Since this was my first layered pattern, I struggled a bit with the background and midground layers. I ended up doing two versions - two different mid grounds. I'm not sure which one I like better - and would love hear other people's opinions! Here are the two versions - in the original colourway.

Dylan has passed on her love of a million colourways to me...so here are some variations. I felt different colourways lent themselves to different scales.

I'm surprising myself by quite liking the "neon" version (1st of the 3) above! I really wanted to do a green version of this pattern, but just couldn't get a version that I liked.
