I'd like to start developing a brand that, along with my girlfriend (a talented artist and seamstress), I'd love to one day make a reality. I've been working at a T-shirt company in NYC for a few years now, and the urge to start my own thing and do things differently (read: do things exactly the way I want to) is getting harder and harder to ignore. I want to get my hands dirtier, and make something I'm truly proud of! Like most of us here, I'm a maker—I love woodworking, , printmaking, signpainting, hand lettering, fixing the sink, etc—and I'm inspired by hard work and handmade, tangible quality. Elders would be a tribute to that idea, both in name and in craft.
Its a working title, but I like it enough to get started.
So! I'm late to the game here, but I finally had an evening to dive in. Inspiration "mood boards" below! Pieces i've collected that I really love—Jon's work is amazing, of course , Simon Walker from TX is a HUGE inspiration, Commoner Inc, Tennessee barns, wood type—the old and the new, hopefully puts together some kind of picture.
More to come! Gotta go explore more of your projects and see how this thing works.
