A fun start to a piece where I still had to battle with the Procreate app being laggy and buggy. The plum trees in my yard have started blooming, so I was inspired to paint a dryad backlit by a glowing twilight sky. Playing in the garden was always one of my favorite things as a kid, and I liked to search for fairies and magical creatures.
The base sketch was super organic, and I decided I liked the movement in this sketch.

Base colors were observational, as I was looking at the plum trees through my window. I knew I really wanted to have that sort of lichen green in the painting because it was the color I was most drawn to.

At this point, I worked in some deep darks, shadows, flowing hair, and the shapes of the blossoms. Procreate was really giving me a hard time at this point, so I decided this would be a good place to stop. I'll be going back into it later to render details and clean up the shapes and lines. I didn't get to the point of adding more glow, so I'll be adding that in towards the end.
