Drillist.com - Hot Rod Classifieds Done Right.

None of these are focused on Hot Rods, and the first two aren't even focused on... well... anything!

I've been a hot rod and motorcycle enthusiast since I was a kid. I've bought, sold, traded, built, and customized a ton of them. The hardest part? Finding the right car, bike, or part.

Craigslist and eBay revolutionized the way people bought and sold cars and parts, but just because they are good, doesn't mean we should be content. Between the increasing fees on eBay, and the difficulty of search on Craigslist, there is a gap that's ripe for the picking!

I launched drillist.com on November 15th, having started publicizing it about a month prior. At launch there were about 400 people on the mailing list, all being opt-in, and another 200 or so people that I know in the hot rod and motorcycle community that I emailed directly.

At this time there are nearly 200 registered users on the site, and around 130 ads, but I'm struggling to get people to post more ads. There are a number of hot rod and motorcycle forums online that each have over 50,000 members, so I'm trying to find non-spammy ways to get those people to be aware of the site, and be interested in it.

I get about 200 unique visitors each day, so there's a bit of traffic. I'm just trying to figure out how to get people to the site.

As for a business plan, I'll be taking a cut of any transactions made with credit cards on the site as the next step, and offerring some add-ons for ads (more photos, videos, premium placement, inclusion in weekly email, etc.) at a price. I'm not planning to retire on the profits, just trying to get it to pay for itself!
