Hey thank you! I do think the base turned out really well, but as you can see, my fur strokes are really thin and rigid. I'm having trouble making them wide at the base and having them taper off in a pleasing way. My brush strokes in general are very hard and scratchy as you can see, so I think nailing fur would help me a lot in other areas too! But I'm struggling to make them look nice. Any tips or resources appreciated.

sorry for this terribly late response, your reply slipped through the cracks! Looking at your piece, im wondering if your pressure sensitivity is turned off, it doesnt look like any of your strokes are tapering off which is a big help - especially with painting fur. what program are you using? i would double check pressure sensitivity settings or possibly choose another brush that offers more stroke variation
