For this course, I wanted to take my time and start with something easy. A simple mushroom is the first thing that came to my mind, I drew it in my sketchbook with a Posca pen, then scanned it.
Here it is, turned into a pattern thanks to your instructions ! I had a lot of fun switching out colors, and finding a color theme that not only i liked but could also blend in my instagram feed.
On to more complex things ! Here is the sketchbook page where I did the geometric forms and the other project. I usually love watercolor but I decided to use colored pencils for a more grainy look, wanted to try it out and see how different from yours it would turn.
And now the final patterns ! I had so much fun doing these, I had tried making patterns before but this was really the first completely stress-free time for me. No anxiety at all, no performance-stress (I'm usually guilty of a lot of that :D haha), just plain old fun ! This truly was an enjoyable experience.
The dragonfruit pattern was a lot of fun to make too, and this technique makes it SO easy to play around with the positioning of the elements. I have a headache now from all the background colors I have tried, hahah, but I will get back to it tomorrow to pick my favorites (which by the way, if you have a favorite one I'd love to know which !) !
With all these photos I'm posting, I definitely used your LOWRES trick to make sure that Skillshare Project wouldn't be too heavy. Hahah !
With more and more practice I hope I'll be able to become a full time illustrator one day, as I've realized (after 10 years of soul searching, haha), that it's my professional dream.Thank you so so much for this class. Your classes are always awesome and I look forward to each and everyone of them. :)
