Hey everyone! The struggle I chose is called "doomscrolling," the act of consuming an endless procession of negative online news. Recently I've found it really hard to put down my phone before going to sleep and right after waking up. There's headline after headline about coronavirus, racial injustice, climate change, the decline of democracy, you get the picture. After doing some pages of sketches, I played with ideas that I thought would lend themselves well to repetition. The idea to have the interlocking arms works well because it sells the feeling of being "stuck" and unable to put down the phone and go to sleep/get out of bed. The final piece ended up being very cathartic for me.
Thanks for the awesome class Justyna! I really enjoyed the depth of instruction, and going the process of turning a simple sketch into polished, portfolio-worthy vector art.
