Hey everyone. By the way of introduction my name is Ryan Pimental and I am graphic designer from Boston, Massachusetts. I will be working on graphics for the Disney brand in homage of my love for the company, its history and Walt himself. Walt was an incredible creative with the ambition to bring his imagination to life against all odds. While Disney isn't a clothing brand, they have been selling merchandise for years. The original design work of the Disney company is classic. Thick lines and simplistic imagery. Today most of the apparel could be considered touristy or over the top, therefore I am looking to create work that will trace back to the companies roots with clean design.
These are a few examples of the throwback style I will be looking to accomplish, rather than the bright neon offerings most think of upon hearing "Disney shirts". Since Disney has been creating merchandise for almost a century, there is a lot to pull from for inspriation. I won't be looking at shirts, but rather old ticket stubs, attraction posters, concepts and print ads.
I have just recently started illustrating Disney characters for practice and it has been a blast, so here is to hoping I can create some graphics that honor what has grown the company into what it is today. But enough with the chatting because as Walt once said "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."
