Designed by Mere - business card redesign

This is my current business card that I've been using for 5 years. Time to freshen things up a bit! I think my logo needs a refresh as well. Experimenting with type is a good first step.

Unit 1 work: sans serif font design - just using fonts and alignment

I decided to use Futura for this exercise. First I just got the content on the page, and decided that left aligned  was the way I'd go (since I use right alignment in my current business card, it seemed like a fresher approach would be a new alignment!):

Next, breaking up the content...

An easy start to breaking up the content was to separate the business info (the company name, description, and website) with my personal info (name, email, telephone).

Next I played around with emphasis and composition. Here are a couple ideas (with guides turned on in Illustrator so that you can see the grid I used):

I thought the second design was a little more interesting. I moved the horizontal guides a bit closer together to come up with this:
