WORKSHOP 5 Phase 4

Wow this was a huge task for me. I decided I needed a second collection which has been finished BTW and then my mac monkey injury reoccured. Has put me out for a bit.

I have managed to put a smaller portfolio together and will continue working on the new collection to add to portfolio at a later stage. Design your Perfect Portfolio - image 1 - student project

WORKSHOP 5 Phase 2

My portfolio will not be huge. I have really only got one collection but am working on developing more patterns in my Arabesque one. It may end up being a mini collection.

My portfolio will be:

1. Table of contents

2. Bio / About me

3. Collection/s -Along a Coast

4. Sketches / Processes

5. Single patterns

6. Contact info

I will be just doing an online version first and will develop a printed one if time permits. I love making ones that you can to pick up and flick through. I love books...have quite an extensive collection. It reminiscent of my first jobs as a graphic designer making mock ups for clients and we didnt really have this thing called the internet or www.

COLOURWAY 2 of my Collection "Along a Coast"

Have decided to recolour my watercolours for colourway 2 in photoshop as the recolour in AI does not colour effectively. I had another colour way so I think it will look much better.

WOW... so much fun. This has been a massive learning curve... but been so excited about this.

PHASE 2

Finally put together my patterns...there is still some work to do but 'm getting there. I'm having some questions about what makes a focal print and a repeat.

My collections based around the coast and at the moment I'm still playing with titles of 'of the sea', 'along a coast' and 'shore'....still working on it.

My collection is about where the sea meets the shore. It's about exploring the aquatic objects that are deposited on the shore.. it's about discovering and being enveloped by the ever changing moods of the coast ... at times dark and unpredictable ... calm and refreshing at other times ... it's about the undulating organic shapes, colours and textures that the coast will reveal when you look and feel.

WORKSHOP 3 FOCAL PRINTS

Completed Focal Print No 3...finally.

Design your Perfect Portfolio - image 10 - student project

Well....I've managed to finish 2 focal repeats with a dripping nose...still working on the final one. Must say it's been a lot of fun and I've learnt heaps...experimented with ideas and concepts that I haven't worked with before. I've even created blender prints to go with these focal prints. And learnt to be patient with using my wacom tablet that I've had for a couple of years and didn't use much.

Apologies for lateness...have really preferring to do this pattern work but I've had work and family commitments and then been sick. I'm also struggling with the idea of focal point prints. Not sure I completely understand the concept but I've really had fun making the motifs. Thanks Bonnie for th ideas such as ones that came out of the watercolour workshop. I've never really enjoyed watercolour that much and have since the workshop been working with this more and more.

I have gone back to my inspiration from Workshop #1 Coastal. I went on a different journey for Workshop #2 but was inspired to follow on with the coastal theme and expanded on it somewhat as I have just experienced some crazy weather...rain...flooding...etc. It was amazing to see what the ocean washes up after really strong currents and the river washing out so much debris... and now it is really quite calm again and I got out with my camera on the first day of sunshine that we have had for a few weeks.

My inspiration for my theme has arrived to me literally at my doorstep...COASTAL

I have completed 2 patterns at last in 2 colour ways. I think I've worked out the recolour tool... I've had a lot of fun but it has been a juggling act with work and family. Just finished off the other 2!!

I have finally worked on my motifs. Took longer than I thought and am having issues with recolouring. I will have to look over those recolour artwork tutorials again. However I have had a lot of fun playing with how my watercolours have turned out.

Whilst I have deliberately avoided using watercolour in the past I have found love working with it for this class. I have had fund experimenting with this medium and I think I will use it a lot more the more confident I get with it ....Thanks Bonnie!!!

MOTIFS

I have finally dusted off my wacom tablet. It has been neglected for some time...and also dusting off my brain to using Illustrator again. Not sure of the colours and they seem quite different now that I have uploaded them.

MY SKETCHES

I have really enjoyed getting back into drawing...so relaxing. Had to dust off my pencils and pens but I'm thinking I will continue with drawing on a regular basis.
