Design 3 Focal Prints in 3 Weeks

Hi! I'm Deborah and I'm a graphic designer / illustrator working in Birmingham, the UK.

Jungle

I love to travel: I adore seeing new and beautiful things, and exploring new places. But this Sri Lankan trip was one I had to miss out on. Inspired by the pictures my sister sent each day of the country's interior—verdant landscapes, steaming jungles, saturated sunsets, squawking parrots, strutting peacocks, and curious monkeys with incredibly human faces—I imagined a lush, exotic jungle teeming with life, and pictured myself there...

There are a few things to iron out to fully finish, but in general I'm very pleased. I've toned down the colours from my original palette (as the very bright green and neon pink was a little too jarring).

This is quite a big repeat (42cm sq.) in order not to make the same groupings repetitively, so I've zoomed on on random sections to show...

Birds of a Feather

I moved into a new home this spring, with a garden for the very first time. There are loads of trees and a large wild mixed hegerow. Planting out the garden introduced me to my feathered friends, who are not shy at making themselves seen and heard.

Final Pattern: I've been struggling with this one, but... I'm happy enough! Actually, it's really growing on me.

Wetland

Autumn walks with the dogs through the local nature reserve throw up a wealth of natural beauty. I love the shapes made by the teasels and seed-heads in the wetland area, and thousands of amazing insects flit about—including one of my favourites: the dragonfly.
