Deer Irish Pub Logo

IDEATION

After sketching ideas for Flamingo Icecream and realizing that none of them were working, I decided to go with Irish cuisine. I did research about native animals in Ireland and decided upon a deer.

RESEARCH

SKETCHING & IDEATION

I tried exploring combing the antlers of a deer with a four leaf clover. I also explored using utensils and a beer mug within the deer.

DIGITIZING THE SKETCH

Initially, I tried to create a four leaf clover out of deer antlers. It was starting to become too busy, and unclear what it was representing. I tried to simplify the logo with only having one deer, while still mimicking a clover shape within the antlers. This design was beginning to look to cartoonish (not for a pub), so I decided to go with one of my original simplified versions of the deer, with the clover in the center. To add to the Irish look, I added a shield to give the logo more power.

REFINEMENTS

I decided to go with the a modern san-serif with "Irish Pub" in a slab-serif to add contrast.

I explored adding different elements to the typefaces to tie it back to the icon. I decided to go with the addition of the minimal point to the top of the letter "A" to mimic the point in the deer icon.
