Went straight to Pinterest! I realised I really like the 'simple' designs, one or two colours and with a cute / funny theme.

And for the same reasons, the dinosaur was my favourite from Apple Metal Pin:

Rough sketches

I love drawing Japanese dolls called Daruma and I thought this could be a good idea for a pin, they are round and a bit angry-looking and you can have fun with their expression / brows / moustaches.

Iterations

I went through quite a few iterations (that was my first time using the pen tool to ink one of my drawing). The first time, there was too much differences between the strokes and it wasn't working well on a tiny scale. For the second one I tried to use more a consistent thickness for the lines but I thought it was loosing its 'character', so I went for a more asymmetrical design which I think is more balanced and keep some personality.

Final version

For the final design, I enlarged the face to add to the funny/angry-looking aspect and also to make it more visible on a small scale.

Test with different colours

Red / black and gold are the more traditional colours but I think I quite like the black version :)
